Comparison

A DocuSign alternative for terms of business.

DocuSign and Adobe Acrobat will sign anything. If the thing your agency signs most is its terms of business, here is how they compare with a tool built for exactly that, on price, limits and where your agreements are kept.

01When a general tool makes sense

If your agency signs many kinds of document (contractor agreements, timesheets, NDAs, supplier contracts), a general e-signature tool covers them all. DocuSign and Adobe both offer Australian data hosting, and both are widely recognised by clients.

The trade-off is set-up and limits. You build each template and its fields yourself, and annual plans come with sending limits: 100 envelopes per user per year on DocuSign Standard, and, if you move to Acrobat Sign user licences, 150 transactions per user per year unless your contract says otherwise.

02What a terms-of-business tool adds

  • Your own wording, as clauses. Upload your existing terms and Koho splits them into clauses, adding fields for the client, fee, payment days, guarantee and state. An admin reviews them before anything is saved.
  • Each client’s numbers. Set the fee, payment days and guarantee for each client and tick the clauses that apply, rather than editing a PDF.
  • Versions that never change. Sent terms are never edited; a revision is a new agreement, so you always know what each client accepted.
  • Reminders on their own. Day 3 and day 7, then the consultant is told.
  • A signing record. Name, role, company, verified email, time, internet address and browser, the signature, and the exact document with a SHA-256 fingerprint.

Koho’s e-signing is built for terms of business only. If you need to sign other documents too, you may still want a general tool for those.
